The Mortain Bridge (the blue suspension bridge) by the Ham car park

(next to Morrisons) will be closed today and tomorrow (29th and 30th June) for

resurfacing.

Does this inconvenience any of you?

Is anyone still trying to cross the bridge?

The sign that I saw was as I came from the carpark near the brewery, just along from the skatepark.

Before you get to the bridge, even before you get to the path that runs along side the brewery, there is a sign letting everyone know that the bridge is closed for resurfacing. I was on my lunch break so I turned around and went another way. From the Ham Carpark you can see the dust rising from the bridge where the work is being done. There is another sign there just in case people fail to notice the dust and workmen.

No, the resurfacing and closure of the bridge doesn't inconvenience me. We are lucky to have such connecting bridges in our town, and it is important they are well maintained as they are in constant use and of vital importance to the community.

Maybe we only refer to the two bridges as the 'black bridge' and the 'blue bridge' and don't know them by their proper names or am I being too kind?

What's actually going on? Have they actually closed off the bridge with tape etc or do people just walk down there to find a lot of workmen blocking the path?

At least we have a few bridges here so we aren't completely cut off!
