I am an avid Rugby supporter so I am
-
Blandford Ruby Club could produce a sporting legend
looking forward to supporting Blandford Rugby Football Club in the coming
months. The Club will kick off the new season with a new senior strip of
scarlet, amber and white. The strip can be viewed on their website.
The Senior fixtures commence on 11th
September with Blandford 1st team XV against Swanage and Wareham II and
Blandford 2nd team XV against Oakmedians III so they will need lots of local
support.
This Rugby club is played and run by local families
and volunteers and so plays a big part in the community. Founded in 1976 at the
former Half Moon Inn as a pub side, the club has successfully gained a credible
reputation in rugby circles. The clubs success has seen them promoted in Dorset
and Wiltshire leagues to Southern Counties South League.
Further success has come from the Juniors
section with over 100 under 16’s now training ever Sunday for competitive
games. Children from around the area from 6 years can join, have fun, learn new
skills and keep fit. Playing in a team sport is good for their physical and
social development. Parents can get involved too with lots of voluntary
opportunities with the Junior section.
A Junior team played at the Weymouth Beach
Rugby Tournament on 24th July against many other good local sides.
The have gained credible local sponsors like Conyers and Gorcombe Extreme Sports and other big names. If you would like to help with coaching or
becoming a team manager then contact the club for more information.

It's good to see local clubs doing so well, helping promising players make the best of their careers. And it's good for the supporters too. I wish Blandford Rugby Club all the best for the coming season.
