Blandford Forum parents in outrage at new school policy.

Carpet
Milldown Primary School’s newly adopted policy of children changing shoes to protect the school’s new carpet has come under fire from parents, who were so incensed they set up a Facebook page to appose it.
OK, so I’m a little late to this, but the stupidity of the story grabbed my attention. This is a carpet we’re talking about… in a school… with children…who, from my experience can wear things out or destroy them without even being in the same room. My son does, so why should any other child be different? That’s just kids for you. That’s what they do. So why would Head Teacher Sue Ryall think for one moment that she could stop wear and tear on a carpet in a primary school? That’s just plain nuts!
And if the school were going to get a carpet installed surely they would have sought advice on the toughest carpet to get, one that would withstand the trampling of a thousand tiny shoed feet? This has to be a no brainer surely?
Then I have another question, why would a school install a carpet anyway? All the schools I went to had hard wearing floors, no carpets, just solid floors you could run around on all day and not make a mark on. So why install a carpet at all, aren’t they just asking for trouble?
What are your thoughts?

Stupid to put a carpet in there in the first place. What next...leather armchairs, a bar perhaps, or a priceless collection of antique vases?
