Blandford Forum Town Council frustrated over derelict new library site

Councillors at Monday's Town Meeting expressed frustration at the lack of forward motion from Dorset County Council in developing the site.

The wire-fenced patch of ground behind the Tourist Information building is one of the first impressions that visitors to the town using the Marsh & Ham car park are treated to.

With library funding across the country being cut and Dorset libraries facing closure and reduced opening times, the project is indefinitely postponed, leaving an unsightly concrete hole.

DCC is currently responsible for the land but has been slow to act on improving its appearance. Blandford Forum Town Council is making enquiries about transfering the property into its own care.
