BLANDFORD - North Dorset District Council (NDDC) are seeking to make the process of registering births and deaths a whole lot less stressful with its "Tell Us Once" service.
The initiative enables people to notify a registrar of a birth or a death, who will then circulate the information to all relevent areas of the local authority.
Councillor Audrey Burch, portfolio holder for Community at NDDC said, "Dealing with these things, particularly a death, is quite traumatic so anything we can do to relieve stress and red tape has to be a good thing. Sharing information across departments and organisations in this way has to be a much more efficient way of working."
For the time being you will still have to contact the registrar face to face because signatures are required however in time the service is hoped to develop to allow online or telephone contact.

Good, never had to do either but I can imaging the admin is the last thing you want to deal with in the event of either a birth or a death.

ReportThis is pleasing, I had to register a death of a friend a couple of years ago and the number of people I had to talk to was appalling. Hope it works.
