Blandford Forum TESCO / ASDA Face off delayed until Feb 14th

It may be Valentines Day but there'll be no love lost between ASDA and Tesco on February 14th when North Dorset District Council is due to consider plans to extend the existing Tesco supermarket.
The decision was supposed to have been made before Christmas, however the tabling of a rival application by ASDA made the council put off the decision until it had collected more information.
Tesco's plans are opposed by ASDA which is in turn proposing a new supermarket at the other end of town, which it says will offer more jobs and more competition on fuel prices for the town.
The fact that the council delayed after the ASDA application has lent weight to rumours that the council will not allow both projects to go ahead.

I think the ASDA option probably is a better deal for the town, but it's shame it has to be one or the other - how about neither?

ReportI have to say, I'm on team ASDA. Would never shop there but a petrol price war would certainly come in handy

ReportI suggest that we ignore all the big corporate souless chains and try and shop inside the town to keep it alive.
