There are few things so satisfying as growing your own food and with the cost of feeding the family skyrocketing just at a point when we're all trying to tighten our belts, its no wonder that many people are turning to soil and toil. Blandford's allotments also have a strong sense of community which makes the hobby pleasurable as well as productive.
Plots are allocated to Blandford town residents as they become available, there is rent to pay and this varies per site and size of plot. Lamperds Field also has a polytunnel with spaces to rent to allotment holders for extending the growing season.
There are waiting lists unfortunately but allotments do change hands, usually around October, so don't be put off. Get your name down and maybe this time next year, you'll be tucking into a meal of your own grown veg.
Visit the Blandford Allotments Website for further info.
