The best PR - who could resist?!
Recognised for her achievement in the Best PR Initiative category, creative director Su Cowell was thrilled to learn of her success when the envelope was finally opened and the results revealed in true Hollywood style.
The whole evening was a very glamorous affair complete with its very own red carpet. The dress code stipulated Long and Luscious for the business women who attended and they didn't disappoint their hosts, Tara Howard and Jackie Phillipson, putting their best 'high-heeled' feet forward as they made their way into the banqueting hall, ready for the presentations.
Su admitted that she didn't expect to win and was taken completely by surprise. 'I knew of Joanne Dewberry's impressive work and Margaret Mackenzie, having witnessed her in action addressing other business owners. Both are dynamic characters and I honestly thought it would be either of them before me.' Su added that she thought the fact that one of her hats appearing on the BBC on EastEnders was a major factor in helping her to win her award. 'If someone's hoping for wide press coverage, an appearance on a major soap on Christmas Day has to come pretty high on their list!' But she did also acknowledge that she had put a lot of effort into raising the company's profile locally, nationally and overseas in the past year as she worked to build the company.
And she still gives much of the credit to the hats she produces too. 'They really are the best publicity for my company. They are very eye-catching and a cute photo of a newborn in one of my creations is the best advert I can hope to have. Who can resist when they look as cute as this on a tiny baby?'
